Entry No. 3: Skincare-CLEANSERS

Okay friends.. I'm here to pick a bone I've grown passionate about.  CLEANSERS. This is such a vital product to have within your skin care routine! But more importantly.. are you using the right skin cleanser that suits your skin's needs? Being an Esthetician and working on many different skin types and conditions, I commonly find a few issue that people tend to have with their routines. Starting first with complaints of lack of balance within their skin. This can come from many reasons such as diet, lifestyle, but also maybe your skin care routine/products aren't catering to the right needs of your skin. I find that from not only client experience, but my own personal experience, that using the right cleanser for your skin type and condition can be such a game changer! Below are a few pointers about cleansers and your skin you DEF should know...

THE PRE-CLEANSE: Taking the time for this step is so important. Removing makeup, dirt, and debris before you cleanse can really make a huge difference in your skin's health. Using a cleansing oil or even a wash with your cleanser before you go in to deep cleanse helps to lift the first layer of dirt and debris. I like to "double cleanse" my skin, this meaning using my cleanser to pre-cleanse. Trust me, getting the pre-clease nailed into your routine will make your skin so happy.

THE RIGHT CLEANSER: I find that a lot of people, when it comes to cleansing their skin, immediately gravitate to a sudsy, gel like cleanser. What you may not realize is that these kinds of cleansers are not always the best for YOU and what your skin needs. Foamy cleansers are still wonderful and provide amazing benefits. I personally believe that they are better for really oily skin types. Now not all, but foamy cleansers tend to strip the skin of its oil, good and bad. Your skin needs a decent amount of its natural oils to replenish and keep your skin supple. For someone with large pores and a lot of oil production I would most definetly recommend a foamy cleanser. For someone with normal to dryer skin, I would hands down recommend a creamy cleanser. A lot of people feel like creamy cleansers do not cleanse their skin thoroughly. FALSE. They clean your skin like a gel cleanser! They may provide a bit more hydration in which your dryer skin type needs. I find that double cleansing with creamy cleansers is most beneficial. Work the creamy cleanser in on your damp, not wet skin, then going in second time. You will find with time that using the right cleanser for your skin type can be so helpful in how your skin feels and appears. Creamy and gel cleansers are made for many skin conditions as well i.e. acne prone, sensitive, dry, normal, and oily.

PRO TIP: If you're a normal/dry skin type or even have that adult acne that we all love so much (big eye roll) and are trying out the creamy cleanser life, use a foamy cleanser as your first cleanse so you get the feeling of "clean skin" then use your creamy cleanser as your second cleanse (maybe do a little facial massage?) and really work in the product.

PSA: STOP USING CLEAN AND CLEAR AND NEUTROGENA!!! lol seriously though, Google some of those ingredients.. and don't even get me started about Proactive. There many amazing skin care brands out there, but if you're are searching to up your skincare game, see your fellow Esthetician or a good skin care professional! They can help you identify your true skin care type and get you on the regime thats suitable for you.

Anyway, rant OVER! Thank you for reading and remember, your pretty face deserves so much love! Treat it as you would the rest of your body.
